China Unicom, China Mobile to Push Mobile Navigation Services
November 11, 2005
According to a recent report by the Xinhua News Agency, China Unicom and China Mobile both have plans to increase their mobile navigation services in the near future. China Unicom plans to provide its mobile voice navigation service in 114 cities by the end of 2005, especially focusing on coastal cities in Eastern China. China Mobile will introduce mobile location services in more than 20 provinces and municipalities in the first half of 2006. The company will also launch mobile voice navigation services in the near future, while in September it already started a mobile electronic mapping service. Currently, the navigation market in China is dominated by car GPS services, with about 100,000 before market users and less than 100,000 after market users.
